PoP ~ October Thought Prompts & Discussion

The rules are pretty simple:

  • This is a safe place for you to share your thoughts and ideas on each day’s prompt.
  • Critical thought and poignant questions are encouraged.
  • Any behavior that seems aggressive, abusive or attempts to undermine the efforts of other participants will be banned from the conversation and the site.

October’s journey is about making conscious move from our warm weather selves to our cool weather selves.

As family routines change so do office dynamics and everything in between.

This is a time to take stock of what has been built and get intentional about what you’ll like to build moving forward.

Mantra: With grace and ease I appreciate that has been and keep my eyes open to all possibilities (expected and unexpected) of what might be.

Clarity Portion of the Month

(Days 1-10, minus weekends)

Reflect on what you’ve created and experienced. Get intentional about what you’d like to create and experience moving forward.

Day 1 Thought Prompt

Record and reflect on some of your most meaningful summer memories.

Doesn’t have to be the most pleasant. Meaningful can come from uncomfortable.

Day 2 Thought Prompt

Who did you meet this summer? How did they impact you? How do you feel you impacted them?

It doesn’t matter if you kept the connection. Total strangers can leave their mark on us.

Day 3 Thought Prompt

Whether directly through a course or indirectly through your experiences, what did you learn this summer? What made it impactful? What lessons made you eager for more and what lessons triggered you (showing you where you have healing to do)?

When you get annoyed with someone all that means is that you have something left un-healed in you. If all you did was learn where you have healing to do that goes on the list!! Then you can check out Conscious Transitions to find out what the heck to do with it.

Day 4 Thought Prompt

What are you grieving and/or celebrating from the past few months? It’s ok if they’re the same event … divorce is often both, for instance.

Most everything we experience offers us light and dark experiences. The joy of leaving a soul sucking job can feel negated by the fear of being unemployed. Let them exist in the same space and experience it all fully. Only then can you see and surrender to all opportunities available to you.

Day 5 Thought Prompt

What kind of memories would you like to make in the next few months?

Sure, notable memories can occur spontaneously. How many more will you have once you’re intentional about creating them though?

Day 6 Thought Prompt

Who would you like to meet in the next few months? Or what KIND of person would you like to meet?

We attract what we envision. Who would be a value-add to your sphere of influence?

Day 7 Thought Prompt

What would you like to learn in the next few months?

Think beyond books and classes. Would you like be more gracious? Would you like to be happier?

Day 8 Thought Prompt

What kind of changes within yourself are you willing to make?

“Be the change you wish to see in the world,” does not mean go do nice things. It means if you want peace, be peace. If you want understanding, be understanding.

Gathering Portion of the Month

(Days 11-20, minus weekends)

Consider all of the options and resources available to you to help you bring your goals to fruition.

Day 9 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 1 & 5

What resources do you have to help you make memories?

Time, money, inspiration, friends, a garden, a hobby … ????

Day 10 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 2 & 6

Who knows the type of person (or the actual person) you’d like to meet?

Friends, family, colleagues, friends of friends, the lady at the animal shelter….???

Day 11 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 3 & 7

How can you connect to what you want to learn?

Books, classes, that new person you just met from yesterday’s prompt, online videos ….???

Day 12 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 4

The events that you’ve let go and/or welcomed have come with their own coping mechanisms and resources. How does it feel to have those resources available to you? or not?

Not just emotionally … check into your body, where do those thoughts, feelings and mechanisms show up in your body?

Day 13 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 1 & 5 again

What are you willing to do to make memories?

Make a date, buy some new gardening tools, learn some jokes, hire a travel agent….????

Day 14 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 2 & 6 again

What are you willing to do to foster relationships, new and old?

Make a phone call, friend them on Facebook, ask for an introduction, say hi at the checkout counter…????

Day 15 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 3 & 7 again

What are you willing to do to learn?

Join a class? Start a conversation with someone who doesn’t agree with you? Look at how what you accuse others of exists in you? “You spot it, you got it.”

Day 16 Thought Prompt

Reflect on Day 8

What are you willing to do to make the changes in yourself that you’ve identified?

Participating here is a great way to start! What about making amends with people? Joining a club or drinking more water?

(Days 21-End, minus weekends)

It’s time to actually DO what you’ve identified in the Gathering Portion.

If you haven’t already setup coffee dates, classes or time with the family, now is the time to do it.

If you have, make sure you honor those commitments.

Commit to them. Put them in your calendar. When someone needs your time, understand that your memory-making block of time is spoken for.
